Transmigrate into a Book to Save My Life: The Daoist I Picked Up Has a Screw Loose

Jiang Qie, a future-renowned cultural relic restorer, is unexpectedly transported into an old-school danmei political intrigue novel, where she becomes the vicious supporting female character sentenced to death from the start. The original story has no heroine. To escape her destined death, she puts her exceptional restoration and appraisal skills to work making money in ancient times. But she unexpectedly attracts Xie Fuyao, the most infamous and utterly ridiculous con-artist Taoist in the book.

The two become partners in making money: Jiang Qie appraises antiques and spots bargains, while Xie Fuyao handles the muscle and cracks jokes. The original novel’s seemingly gentle but actually vicious “heartthrob,” a hypocrite who was originally set up as Jiang Qie’s close female friend and sworn brother, repeatedly plots against her, hoping to use her as a stepping stone. With Xie Fuyao’s “unreliable” help, Jiang Qie turns the tables and delivers face-slapping comeuppances time and again. She also gradually discovers that this goofy Taoist, who keeps whining, “This poor Taoist is broke,” has a background powerful enough to overturn the court, and that beneath his seemingly frivolous exterior, his heart has long belonged to her alone.
