The Tree of Life: The Hunt Begins, Su Lie Comes from 2026

Su Lie wakes up to find himself a soldier sent to Tibet in 1996.

The good news: He’s in the drama Life Tree.

More good news: He arrived early, before anyone has died.

The bad news: Whenever he tries to spoil the plot, altitude sickness hits him with such a headache he feels like banging his head against a wall.

Fine. If he can’t talk, he’ll take action.

So...

When Dong Zhba is supposed to deliver supplies, Su Lie blocks the road in advance. “Military exercise. Civilians, keep out!”

The poachers are baffled. “Since when do soldiers hold exercises in the middle of nowhere?”

When He Qingyuan is about to get shot, Su Lie welds a scrap metal plate onto his car. “It’s a tactical modification.”

He Qingyuan is so moved he tears up. “Brother Su, you’re so good to me.”

Su Lie: “Save it. Thank me by staying alive.”

When Duojie is about to go to Beijing and get himself killed, Su Lie sets up supply points along the way and gets the herders to block the road with their cattle and sheep.

Duojie gets stuck on the road, and the gunman waits until the flowers have withered.

Gunman: “Why isn’t he here yet?”

Su Lie: “He’s here, he’s here. But he’s not going to die. He’s going to eat.”

The mountain patrol team asks,

“Brother Su, how do you know everything?”

Su Lie covers his aching head and answers calmly, “Fate.”

Everyone regards him with newfound respect. “What a sage!”

The poachers: ???

Feng Keqing: “What happened to my grand scheme?”

Lin Peisheng: “That’s not how the script goes!”

Looking at the mountain patrol team, who all died in the original story, Su Lie quietly takes out his little notebook:

Dong Zhba: Save.

He Qingyuan: Save.

Duojie: Save.

Everyone: Not one of them gets left behind.

Later, a legend takes root in Bolamuladuo:

There was a soldier who couldn’t tell fortunes or use magic, but whenever trouble struck, he was there, and whenever someone needed saving, he always arrived just in time.

The mountain patrol team’s verdict: Brother Su is a genuinely wonderful person.
