The Misaligned Twenty-Fifth Hour

Chi Ye lives by just two rules: First, never trust tears. Second, never let the police get anything on you.

A fixer in the underworld, Chi Ye thinks he’s playing the part of a villain with a secret identity, until he picks up a dead man’s diary at a wealthy man’s funeral. It meticulously records a surgery from 25 years ago, when one baby was secretly switched for another.

Even more absurdly, the abandoned infant in the diary has a birthmark identical to Chi Ye’s.

Desperate to find out whether he’s a “stolen young master from a wealthy family” or a “manufactured fake,” Chi Ye is forced to infiltrate the police station and become an “outside consultant” whose only redeeming quality is his good looks.

But he never imagined that the officer in charge of the case, Shen Weiyang, would be the ex-girlfriend he once “faked an accident” with to shake off his pursuers.

On one side is a tightrope walk in search of the truth. On the other, his genius ex-girlfriend is interrogating him at point-blank range.

Chi Ye: “How is this solving a case? It’s a death wish! Officer Shen, weren’t we supposed to talk about the case and not our feelings?”

Shen Weiyang smiles as she loads her gun. “Chi Ye, until I catch the mastermind, you’re not going anywhere. Not even to hell.”
