Dream of the Red Chamber: Kick the Fake Baoyu Aside and Dote on the Real Daiyu

[Dream of the Red Chamber + single female lead + pure love + older man raises her + devoted, fatherly boyfriend + cathartic revenge on scoundrels + daily life]

Jiang Huaizhong, a powerful capital official who holds sway over the imperial court, inexplicably finds himself with a fiancée.

She is Lin Daiyu, daughter of Lin Ruhai, the Salt Censor of Yangzhou, and the frail, sickly girl of the rumors.

When they first meet, she is still a tiny girl with her hair in two little buns, timidly tugging at his sleeve.

Eighteen years her senior, Jiang Huaizhong can only sigh: How is this marriage? I’m practically raising a daughter!

But somehow, as he raises her, he falls for her.

The little girl grows up into a graceful young woman.

The Jia family tries to scheme for her inheritance? Jiang Huaizhong surrounds the Rongguo Mansion with troops and crushes Jia Baoyu’s magic jade underfoot!

The Xue family tries to shove the “gold-and-jade match” in her face? Jiang Huaizhong turns around and leaves them penniless and homeless!

“If you wish to leave, I’ll send you off in a grand procession, with a lavish dowry stretching ten miles.”

“If you choose to stay... I’ll give you everything I have.”

“Whatever you want, if I don’t have it, I’ll go and take it for you!”

The Dowager Lady Jia frets, “Is Lord Jiang being a little too indulgent toward Daiyu?”

The court officials tremble: “Do you misunderstand what ‘too indulgent’ means, or what ‘confiscating a family’s property’ means?”
