The Long Road to Catching a Killer in the Abyss

When Deputy Captain Chen Mingxuan of the Criminal Investigation Brigade finds a half-clad corpse in an unfinished building, he discovers that the victim is Zhao Yong, his former partner, who disappeared seven years ago. The crow mark on the corpse’s back leads to a series of old cases spanning twenty years. From the disappearance of a young girl to a mole within the police station, from illegal experiments at a biotech company to an international criminal network overseas, Chen Mingxuan, forensic pathologist Wang Xinru, and technical officer Guo Tianli form a close-knit trio and tear through layer upon layer of deception. A fallen comrade may have been a stand-in for the real villain; a beloved elder may be the mastermind; even the death of Chen’s father, killed in the line of duty twenty years ago, conceals a shocking secret. Each murder they solve pushes the truth another inch deeper into darkness. The Black Crow Organization’s shadow hangs over the entire city, and even those closest to them may be friend or foe. Burdened by his comrade’s dying wish and his family’s misunderstanding, Chen Mingxuan struggles forward in the narrow space between the law and personal loyalty. Even with the abyss beneath his feet, he will drag the real killer out of hiding. A steadfast spirit forged in steel, a burning heart shining through the long night. He never forgets what his old captain once told him: “Even if the sky is falling, the police have to stand firm. We can’t let ordinary people live in the shadows.”
