Secrets of the Ice Coffin

Lin Ye, a graduate student in history, sets out to discover the truth behind his grandfather's disappearance after finding a photograph of a Republican-era expedition team and a hand-drawn map of the Heavenly Palace at the Summit. Along the way, he meets A Jiu, a descendant of tomb guardians, and Lao Zhou, a glacier guide. The three form a team and venture deep into the glaciers of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, unaware that they have become entangled in a startling conspiracy surrounding the secret of eternal life. The Heavenly Palace at the Summit hangs over a crevasse in the glacier. Its gilded halls conceal a man in a dark robe, frozen for a thousand years: the leader of an ancient order of sorcerers, who sustains his immortality with the palace's core, the Ice Marrow. Once awakened, he can control the ice and assimilate living creatures. As the team ventures farther in, bizarre threats appear one after another: ice-gnawing insects, ice spirits, and ice-faced men. Meanwhile, Mr. Chen, who covets the elixir of immortality, an international expedition team bent on research, and the mysterious Society of Eternal Life all pursue their own agendas, setting multiple forces against one another. From the glacier palace to the hidden realm of Kunlun, then to an ancient city in the Western Regions and a submerged palace in the East China Sea, Lin Ye and A Jiu repeatedly overcome deadly trials. They pass the three tests of the Trial Hall, destroy the Stone of Eternal Life, stop the Immortality Project, and reinforce the seal on the Water Lord, gradually uncovering the secrets behind the immortals' seal and the guardians' mission. The truth about his grandfather, the sacrifice of his companions, and the clashes between rival factions teach Lin Ye that eternal life is no blessing. The true meaning of life lies in protecting the world's peace. In the end, they take the lead in founding the Global Alliance for the Protection of the Immortals. As they travel to inspect the sealed sites, they continue a legend of courage, responsibility, and protection, while laying the groundwork for new and unknown adventures.
