Seeing the Future: The Missing Scientist

Veteran detective Zhou Lan unexpectedly reopens a three-year-old cold case involving a missing scientist. As he digs deeper, he discovers that Lin Shen, the missing scientist, developed the Guancheng Instrument, a device capable of capturing fragments of time. Though touted as a machine that can “foresee the future,” it actually holds the promise of clearing Lin Shen's name after his research was stolen years ago. Lin Shen's colleague, Gao Yu, becomes the prime suspect, but the investigation is obstructed at every turn by Gao Yu. A mysterious time-research organization called Chronos also emerges, coveting the Guancheng Instrument and hoping to profit by controlling the dimension of time. Under mounting pressure, Zhou Lan presses on through one dangerous situation after another. In the remnants and fragments of time, he discovers that Lin Shen has not vanished completely: he is trapped in a rift in time. A struggle over scientific justice and the order of spacetime begins. As the truth comes to light, the conspiracy behind the plagiarism, the organization's ambitions, and the secrets of time are revealed one by one. In the end, justice brings the criminals to account, but Lin Shen vanishes forever into the river of spacetime, leaving the Guancheng Instrument to preserve the memory of this strange and tragic tale.
