My Boss Is Always Flirting with Me in the Library

Su Wan has kept a secret in the library's rare books department for three years.

On the flyleaf of an obscure poetry collection, she has been exchanging poems and chatting in pencil with a stranger using the pen name “Zhiqiu.” They are kindred spirits. He is gentle and well-read, the only light in her dull life.

Until Lu Chen arrives out of nowhere as the new library director and snuffs out that light.

Handsome and cold, he acts with ruthless decisiveness. His first move is to target the rare books she protects: “Anything no one borrows gets removed at once, including that ‘junk poetry collection’ of yours.” Desperate to hold on to her one source of comfort, Su Wan is forced to deal with him day and night, worn out in body and mind.

In her latest message, she pours out her complaints about the “tyrant director.”

But “Zhiqiu” replies with unprecedented seriousness: “Don't be afraid. I'll help you.”

Soon afterward, Lu Chen's attitude inexplicably softens. He even makes an exception and lets her lead the rare-book restoration project. On the night of the celebration banquet, he corners her in the empty rare-book stacks. The faint cedar scent on him matches the smell of eraser shavings beside her handwriting exactly.

Su Wan suddenly freezes as his low, husky voice falls by her ear:

“You've written love poems for three years, and you still can't recognize my handwriting?”

“Su Wan, your confidant and the ‘tyrant’ have always been the same person.”
