I’m a Scams Prevention Officer at the Demon Management Bureau

Lin Wanwan, 22, human, and the only human employee at the Anti-Fraud Center of the Bureau of Demon Affairs, got her foot in the door of the immortal (demon) workplace with her coding skills.

Her everyday work: helping the Yellow Immortal recover cultivation pills stolen by “foreign demons,” reporting “fake orders for cash-back” scams on behalf of a carp spirit, and dealing with her demon coworkers' bizarre requests.

Then, on the very first day her independently developed “Celestial Eye Anti-Fraud System” went live, it blared a red alert and pinpointed the deputy director's office.

The legendary nine-tailed fox Lu Qingci, “aloof and abstinent, with a heart dead for a hundred years,” was watching the notification pop up on her phone with an amused smile:

[High-risk alert! Target detected: Lu Qingci. Scam type: romance pig-butchering scam. Threat level: SSS. Past record: Caused one death 600 years ago (victim's heart was stolen).]

Lin Wanwan: “...If I say it's a bug, will you believe me?”

A blue flame sprang to Lu Qingci's fingertip, burning up her C-level performance review. “No. But I'm more curious about one thing...”

“Why does your soul's aura match that of my first love from 600 years ago, the one who stole my heart and nearly made my soul scatter?”
