He Promised Me a Lifetime, Then Regretted It and Told Me Not to Take Him Seriously

Xie Yuan had spent three years in the north. The first thing he said to his mother when he came home was:

“Go ask the Yun family for a marriage alliance on my behalf.”

His mother was delighted. “Wonderful! That means our Xie family has two happy occasions to celebrate.”

Xie Yuan asked, “What’s the other one?”

His mother pointed at me. “Shuangshuang is getting married too!”

He laughed. “Her, getting married? Not a chance. Don’t even bother.”

No one would ever know that Xie Yuan and I had promised ourselves to each other three years ago.

But when he followed Yun Zhi to the north, he told me, “I was joking before. Don’t take it seriously.”
