Reverse the Narrative: I Stopped the Luka Doncic Trade

Lin Chen, a die-hard modern basketball fan, unexpectedly transmigrates and becomes Leonardo, the younger son of the Mavericks’ new owner. Just as his memories awaken, he runs into a crisis capable of destroying the team: General Manager Harrison is conspiring with the Lakers to send Luka Doncic, at the peak of his career, to Los Angeles in exchange for the injury-plagued Anthony Davis! Even more despairingly, his father has already signed a letter of intent for the trade, and he is the only one in the entire league who knows what a historically foolish move it would be.

With no way out, Lin Chen abandons conventional tactics and takes a desperate gamble. He kidnaps Harrison in the middle of the night and threatens to expose his secrets until he gives in. Then, imitating Harrison’s voice, he tricks Pelinka into believing Kyrie Irving is being thrown in as a “sweetener.” In reality, he alters the trade documents, bundling Irving and Harrison together and sending them into the Lakers’ trap. The moment the deal is signed and announced, the whole league erupts. The Lakers are left celebrating too soon, while the Mavericks not only keep Doncic but also get Davis and an unprotected first-round pick for free!

This “scam trade” sets off a chain reaction. The Lakers retaliate fiercely with a trade blockade, Davis loses his composure and refuses to fit into the system, and outsiders mock the Mavericks for “winning the trade but losing their future.” Thrust into command at a critical moment, Lin Chen takes charge of the team. He calms the two stars and resolves locker-room conflicts while using his sharp eye for talent to strengthen the roster and build a two-star system around Doncic and Davis, one inside and one outside.

From staging a comeback and contending for the title in the regular season, to battling the Lakers in the playoffs and getting revenge, to a last-second shot against the Celtics in the Finals when all seemed lost, Lin Chen silences his doubters with one astonishing move after another. He leads the Mavericks back to the top, transforming from an untrusted “young kid” into one of the NBA’s most legendary championship architects. When Doncic lifts the Finals MVP trophy and the cheers of the championship parade shake Dallas...
