A Piercingly Cold, Heartwarming Light

Fu Nuan, a palliative care doctor, spends every day helping people meet the end of life with dignity. She has loved Yan Que, a criminal defense lawyer, for ten years, but what she loves is the way he shines in court as he fights for justice. Then she hears with her own ears as he dismisses the “dignity at the end of life” she has devoted herself to protecting as “a waste of resources on lives with no value.” Heartbroken, Fu Nuan leaves. Only then does Yan Que realize that though he has won countless cases, he nearly lost the one thing he can never replace: the warmest love in the world.
