Report, Commander: Your Childhood Sweetheart Ran Off Again

[Proud military academy cadet and childhood friend] VS [Oblivious history major and childhood sweetheart] They were born on the same day, in the same month, in the same year, but he always uses their one-hour age difference as an excuse to call her his “little shadow.”

Luo Ning has always thought Gu Yuchen was the bane of her existence. They’ve been tangled up with each other since birth. He never lets her win an argument or a fight, and somehow their parents are always pushing them together. When he left for military academy, she thought she could finally breathe freely and maybe find herself a sweet boyfriend. But when a guy showed interest in her, she called her “big brother” for advice. Instead, he took leave and rushed back that very night, then sternly lectured her: “Luo Ning, you have terrible taste. No dating before you’re older!”

Furious, she stamped her foot. “Gu Yuchen, you’re just my big brother. Stop sticking your nose into everything!” He only narrowed his eyes and replied, full of meaning, “Just you wait.”

As soon as she finally graduated from college, Gu Yuchen’s first move was to corner her at the door. His tone was firm but gentle: “Luo Ning, you can date now. But I’m the only one you’re allowed to date.”

His sudden confession left Luo Ning stunned. Instinctively, she resorted to the one thing she was best at: running away! Gu Yuchen only sneered. Running? Had all that training in tracking and countertracking at military academy been for nothing?

And so began a lively game of cat and mouse: she ran, he chased; she hid, he searched. Then one day, as Luo Ning leafed through an old history book, the truth suddenly dawned on her: all those years of awkwardness and bickering hadn’t been rooted in dislike, but in the deepest, longest-lasting affection.
