Bronze Relics: The Shadow of Kunlun Ruins

A book that should never have been written “Some tombs aren’t meant to be dug up.” “Once you hear certain doors speak, there’s no escaping them.” Thirty years ago, an archaeological team codenamed K-7 vanished in a blizzard in the Kunlun Mountains. Not a single member survived. The only clue left behind was a piece of broken jade and a deranged message sent by the team leader, Shen Nanshan, to his unborn son: “Don’t let Xinghe come looking for me.” Thirty years later, his son, Shen Xinghe, found a corpse beside a crevasse in a glacier in the uninhabited Hoh Xil region. It was kneeling, hands digging into the frozen earth, with a rust-covered bronze bell strapped to its back. The patterns on the bell were identical to the hand-drawn illustrations in his father’s notebook. Even stranger, the corpse was wearing the uniform of a geological survey team from 1987, yet its time of death had been determined to be only three days ago... But that uniform had been encased in ice for at least thirty years. When half a jade pendant was sent to the lab, all the instruments failed at once. Under the microscope, a line of writing appeared: It was Shen Xinghe’s own handwriting, written in the future: “Don’t put it back together.” Only then did he realize: His father hadn’t died in an avalanche. The survey team had never truly left. And the Kunlun Ruins weren’t an ancient tomb at all. They were the lungs of the earth, a fold in time, a gate sealed for a thousand years by the Nine Cauldrons. The bronze bell never rang on its own... Unless someone had already become a “bell listener.” When the seven lamps of the Big Dipper were lit and an upside-down city emerged beneath the icy abyss, Shen Xinghe finally understood: They thought they were searching for the truth, But in fact... The truth had been waiting for them to return all along.
