I Helped the Company Claim Five Million in Subsidies, but the Boss’s Nephew Fired Me Over a Two-Mao Printing Fee

During the Double Eleven sales festival, the home appliance trade-in scheme I managed brought the company an extra five million yuan in subsidies and doubled our department’s bonuses. At the celebration, my manager, Zhou Zi'ang, who also happened to be the boss’s nephew, slapped an A4 sheet printed with a return code across my face. “Qiao An, how dare you steal company property! Even a sheet of paper costs 20 cents!” “To put an end to this kind of behavior, you’re fired, and all your bonuses are canceled!” He pointed at my nose, spitting as he spoke, and announced in front of everyone that he was “tearing himself apart to put the greater good first.” I looked at him calmly and slowly nodded. “Fine. I hope Manager Zhou can personally sort out the complicated audits and disbursement of those five million yuan in subsidies.”
