Dad, the Game Has Begun

My dad is a traitor. He said he divorced Mom to trick a bad woman out of her money. As long as I cooperated and behaved, he’d bring Mom back soon. At his engagement banquet, I walked up to him and asked loudly, “Dad, did you get the money? Can we go find Mom now?” The smile on Dad’s face instantly froze. Then he scolded me under his breath. “Jiang Miao, shut up! Go back upstairs!” I stubbornly shook my head and pointed to the phone in his suit pocket. “No! Mom is waiting for your message! You said you’d tell her as soon as the money came through!” He shook with anger and locked me back in my room. I didn’t understand. This was the plan we’d agreed on, so why was he so angry? I opened the secret email account Mom had left behind, wanting to ask her.
