Summer Breeze Meets the Rain

After Xia Ran transfers schools, she becomes Jiang Chen’s deskmate. At first, their different ways of thinking, as a science student and a humanities student, lead to some funny misunderstandings. For example, Jiang Chen tries to help Xia Ran with a math problem using a formula beyond the syllabus. But as they work together to organize their notebooks of mistakes and share earbuds to listen to music between classes, they gradually grow closer. During the school sports meet, Jiang Chen gets injured playing basketball, and Xia Ran looks after him the whole time, bringing them closer. Before the college entrance exams, Jiang Chen becomes anxious under pressure from his family. Xia Ran encourages him with a diary entry listing all his good qualities. In the end, they agree to apply to universities in the same city. At the graduation ceremony, Jiang Chen secretly slips a love letter into Xia Ran’s diary.
