The Daoist Venerable Commands the Nine Heavens

Ye Chen, a young man from Lingzhou, was once a prodigy on whom his sect had pinned its hopes. But on the eve of establishing his foundation, his closest friend betrayed him. His spiritual roots were crippled, he was cast out of the sect, and he became an outcast anyone could bully. On the brink of death, he unexpectedly awakens the dormant remnant soul of an ancient Dao Venerable within him. Taking the name Xuan Chen, he passes himself off as a wandering cultivator.

By day, he is the reserved and patient Ye Chen, bartering for scraps of ancient texts in the market and struggling to survive in the gaps between secret realms. Drawing on the Dao Venerable's legacy, he repairs his spiritual roots and cultivates the Nine Heavens Dao Control Art. By night, he becomes the mysterious Xuan Chen, slaying enemies on the black market and helping top factions break ancient formations. His mastery of alchemy strikes fear into all who witness it.

When the righteous factions' siege of a demonic lair reaches a dead end, and an ancient blood curse threatens to devour the continent, the secrets of his two identities begin to converge. Ye Chen wields his sword to break formations; Xuan Chen seals demons with a handprint. The outcast of yesterday will rise under both identities to shatter the heavens, expose the shocking conspiracy behind his sect's betrayal and the conflict between Dao and demon, and become the true Dao Venerable of the Nine Heavens!
