The lights in Room 221 flickered three times again. Ye Yueguang stared at the restraint strap rubbing her wrist raw, while the sharp smell of disinfectant lingered in her nose. Every time the nurse came in, she sighed, “What a shame about that name.” She said Ye Yueguang was always muttering nonsense to the moon, but no one had seen how moonlight landing in her palm at night burned tiny silver patterns into her skin. Tonight was the full moon. Silver light poured through the iron-barred window like flowing water, gathering into a glowing orb on the floor. The next second, a rabbit the size of a palm hopped out. Its white fur was traced with silver markings, and its eyes shone like a tiny fragment of the moon. It was the Moon Rabbit. It nuzzled the restraint strap with its nose, and the canvas silently snapped in two. A chill suddenly welled up from beneath the bed. A black shadow, reeking of rust, lunged at her. It was an “Anomaly.” The Moon Rabbit bristled and shielded her. The silver markings in Ye Yueguang's palm suddenly burned hot. She reached out and grasped, and moonlight condensed into a slender sword. Silver light flashed, and the shadow instantly scattered into black smoke. The Moon Rabbit rubbed against her pant leg. Gazing at the lingering warmth in her palm, Ye Yueguang finally understood: those “crazy ramblings” were a summoning, and this psychiatric hospital was the beginning of her path to slaying the gods.
