The Forensic Pathologist's Seventeenth Wound

Ling Mo's scalpel has just opened the chest of her seventeenth unidentified corpse when Detective Lu Chen arrives with a bizarre murder case. A crossed-scalpel mark is carved into the victim's palm, and the fatal wound bears a startling resemblance to an old scar Ling Mo has carried for years.

One murder follows another. Each victim bears wounds mimicking those in an old case, and every clue points discreetly to the famously composed female forensic doctor. Lu Chen struggles between trust and suspicion, while Ling Mo is forced to reopen her buried memories. The real culprit behind the “scalpel murders” that nearly killed her all those years ago may never have been caught.

When a seventeenth wound quietly appears on Ling Mo's arm, skin tissue found beneath the victim's fingernails turns out to be an exact match for hers. Is the killer maliciously framing her, or has her repressed dark personality run amok? As the scalpel glints, the truth lies buried in the deepest abyss of human nature, and they have become prey in a deadly hunt.
