From Humble Beginnings to the Throne of Godhood

A Chen, a herb-gathering boy in a remote town, is seen by the neighbors as a poor wretch “whose life is thinner than paper.” His parents died young, the apothecary’s owner exploits him, and he can’t even afford the lowest-grade Qi-guiding technique. When his spiritual roots are tested, the immortal sect rejects him for having “false spiritual roots.” No one knows that he keeps half of a bronze fragment engraved with divine markings close to his body. It is the ancient Shennong’s personal token, and no one suspects that Shennong’s lingering soul lies dormant within his frail body.

On one trip into the mountains to gather herbs, A Chen is bitten by a venomous snake while saving an injured little fox. As he hovers between life and death, blood stains the fragment, awakening Shennong’s lingering soul. The Hundred Herbs Path to Divinity Art floods his mind. From then on, A Chen uses a medicinal hoe as his weapon and spirit herbs as talismans, cultivating the path to godhood despite his humble origins.

The immortal sect’s disciples laugh that his “false spiritual roots” will never amount to anything. He swings his hoe to draw in spiritual energy, bringing dead wood back to life as a shield that blocks magical weapons. When demons covet the fragment and ambush him, he uses herbs to refine poison, and the stench of heart-rotting grass tears through the demonic mist. When the fragment reveals the words “Heir of Shennong,” A Chen finally understands: this journey to godhood is both a humble boy’s rise against the odds and the return of the divine throne to its rightful place. Watch a mere herb gatherer wield his hoe to shatter the barrier between immortals and mortals, and ascend to godhood on the power of a hundred herbs!
