A Commoner Treads the Path to Immortality

A Zhu, a young herb gatherer in Qingyang City, is known throughout the neighborhood as a “dullard.” With a damaged spiritual root, he has no hope of joining an immortal sect and can only make ends meet by carrying a basket to gather herbs for a Taoist temple. No one knows that he keeps half of a rune-covered bronze fragment hidden in his sleeve, or that the remnant soul of Cang Xuan, an ancient shaman priest, lies dormant in his frail body.

One day, while gathering herbs in the mountains, A Zhu saves an injured white fox and accidentally cuts his finger on the fragment. His blood awakens the remnant soul. Fragments of Cang Xuan’s memories flood his mind, bringing with them the long-lost Ninefold Shamanic Canon. From then on, A Zhu cultivates the shamanic path in a mortal body, hiding silver needles in his herb basket and concealing his edge beneath a straw hat.

When sect disciples bully him for being a commoner and steal his herbs, Cang Xuan’s remnant soul opens its eyes, and silver needles pierce their spiritual energy. When demonic cultivators come after the fragment, the shamanic canon stirs, and mysterious flames spring from dead wood. When the bronze fragment reveals the words “Reincarnation of Cang Xuan,” A Zhu finally understands: this journey to immortality is both a commoner’s rise to power and the return of a divine soul. Watch as the herb gatherer wields his needles, shatters the barriers of the immortal sects, and restores glory to the shamanic path!
