A City Without Love

In everyone else’s eyes, Lu Shiyu and Shen Qingyi’s marriage is a match made in heaven. He is a rising star in the tech world, sharp and ambitious; she is a gifted jewelry designer. A lavish wedding of the century ties their two families together and places them on a pedestal for all to envy. Yet this gilded cage, built from wealth, prestige, and society’s idea of perfection, has echoed with nothing but suffocating emptiness since their wedding night. Lu Shiyu was once full of hope, believing that affection would grow with time and that even an iceberg could melt. He tried to get close, only to meet Shen Qingyi’s polite, icy barriers time and again. She is within arm’s reach, flawless in every way, yet so distant it feels as if a universe lies between them. Her heart seems to have long been locked away somewhere no one can reach. They share a bed but dream different dreams, facing each other in silence. At glamorous social events, they are a loving couple in perfect sync. Back at their freezing mansion, they are the most familiar strangers, sharing the same space. Step by step, Lu Shiyu moves from confusion and resentment to struggle, exhaustion, and despair. When he finally decides to tear down the walls of their cage, he discovers... Beneath the icy surface, there may be an even more startling secret, and a deeper helplessness. He was never the only one trapped in this loveless marriage. This is a carefully staged performance, with two leading players who are both powerless to choose their parts. When the walls of their cage come crashing down, will they see only ruins, or a path leading into each other’s hearts?
