Possessing Song Jiang, I Summoned a Ghost Instead of Seeking Amnesty

This grand historical fantasy novel combines the heroes of *Water Margin* with transmigration and an epic military saga. Chen Feng, a modern soul, unexpectedly transmigrates into Song Jiang. Armed with forward-thinking ideas on governance and strategic vision, he transforms the Liangshan rebels into a powerful, disciplined force with the people's support: the Liang Kingdom's Qiande Army. The story begins with the oath of brotherhood at Liangshan and quickly sweeps through the decaying Northern Song court. Song Jiang introduces popular reforms such as equal land distribution, a marriage decree, and a mutual-aid system for families of five. He establishes a military and civil administration modeled on modern systems, appoints pillars of talent like Lu Junyi, Wu Yong, Lin Chong, and Yue Fei, and uses Dai Zong, head of military intelligence, as his “hidden blade” to build an all-encompassing intelligence network. In a series of southern campaigns, including the pacification of the Southern Song, the suppression of Fang La, and the defeat of the Pu clan's separatist rule in Quanzhou, the Liang Kingdom demonstrates modern approaches to combined-arms warfare, psychological operations, and logistical support. After unifying the south, Song Jiang swears to march north and sets his sights on the Liao, which has occupied the Sixteen Prefectures of Yanyun for more than a century. Famous generals Yang Zaixing, Yue Fei, Lin Chong, and others attack along separate routes by land and water, joining forces with the Jurchen tribes to tie down the Liao army. They defend the Ruluo Fortress to the last and fight bloody battles at Yunzhou and Yuguan, gradually reclaiming the ancestral lands of the Han people. The novel not only depicts sweeping battle scenes, but also delves into resistance to the reforms and campaigns against corruption, showing how discipline, popular support, and innovation can shake the foundations of the old world. Written in a style that blends classical and vernacular Chinese, the novel follows several storylines at once, combining the spirit of classical fiction with the pacing and depth of modern novels. Through the perspective of Song Jiang (Chen Feng), it explores the conflict between ideals and reality, and between loyalty and reform, telling the story of a “
