Reborn in Water Margin: Jinlian, I've Gone Crazy Waiting for the System

Outlandish ideas, an alternate world, farming, cunning protagonist, comeback, conquest, no saintly do-gooder, political intrigue

Overworked history buff Wu Zhi dies after pulling an all-nighter and wrecking his health writing Water Margin fanfiction.

When he opens his eyes, he’s transmigrated into Wu Dalang!

At this point, Wu Dalang has just married Pan Jinlian.

Pan Jinlian hasn’t met Ximen Qing yet.

But when Wu Dalang looks at his short, stubby frame, he’s overcome with despair.

Even worse, the [System] he’s bound to has an absurd rule:

It can only activate to save his life when Pan Jinlian opens the upstairs window, a bamboo pole falls, and hits Ximen Qing as he passes below!

If the System doesn’t activate, Wu Zhi will meet the same tragic end as Wu Dalang, poisoned to death.

Wu Zhi reads the System’s rules and stares at the huge red countdown to activation.

He feels like dying.

From then on, Wu Zhi stops selling flatbreads. Every day, he carries a little stool outside and sits by the door, waiting.

He even mutters to himself in a mysterious, cryptic way.

Pan Jinlian thinks Wu Dalang has gone mad. Wang Po thinks Wu Dalang has gone mad. Ximen Qing thinks Wu Dalang has gone mad.

Everyone in Yanggu County thinks Wu Dalang has gone mad.

Only Wu Dalang himself knows he’s waiting for the System to activate.
