1938: The Special Forces Soldier from the Future

Lin Feng, a 21st-century Snow Leopard special forces soldier, was on a mission along the China-Myanmar border when a strange blue flash of light sent him plunging through time into the North China Plain in 1938. This was the edge of territory ravaged by the Japanese army. He awoke amid smoke and blood just as a Japanese squad was looting a village. Unarmed except for his tactical knife, he relied on his combat skills and battlefield instincts to strike back and save the surviving villagers, but in doing so, he revealed that there was something unusual about him.

Stripped of his modern equipment, Lin Feng was forced to put down roots in the impoverished countryside. He used his battlefield first-aid knowledge to treat the villagers' gunshot and knife wounds, demonstrated how to make simple traps using branches and dirt, and taught them to fight Japanese bayonets with hoes and sickles. By tracking the Japanese army's movements, he predicted where they would sweep through next, leading the villagers to move their food and hide the elderly and children. Again and again, he helped them avert disaster. But he knew that raids by small Japanese units were only the beginning. After he repelled the Japanese several times, the local garrison marked this "mysterious resister" as a priority target for elimination. A much larger siege was on the way.
