At Dinner, My Granddaughter and Son Call Me Stupid in English

After spending more than a decade abroad, my son and daughter-in-law suddenly came home. At the dinner table, they chatted with my granddaughter in English. My granddaughter said loudly, “Dad, Grandma is so ugly and stupid. She’s such an embarrassment!” My son replied with a laugh, “Can’t be helped. That’s how country folk are.” I couldn’t understand what they were saying, so I could only ingratiate myself with my granddaughter by putting a chicken wing on her plate. Who would have thought she’d fling it right at my face? “That’s so dirty! It’s all your fault Grandpa and Auntie Wei still can’t come home!” I froze. My husband had died decades ago. Who was this Auntie Wei?
