Pearls and Schemes, Strategy and Statecraft

Ling Suanshu, a computer science prodigy, accidentally enters the “NP-Complete Maze,” built from ancient abacuses. Faced with bizarre arithmetic mechanisms and the pressure of the “Repository of Mathematical Warfare,” he rejects brute-force solutions, moving the beads with quicksort to break through and unlocking its secrets with the Fibonacci sequence. At the “congruence equation” trap, he sees through Sun Tzu's theorem; under attack from probabilistic abacus beads, he deploys fuzzy mathematics. Witnessing the evils of “mathematical hegemony,” Ling Suanshu joins forces with the wise mathematician Sun Chou and the resilient mental arithmetic expert Yun Zhu to found the “Association for Peace in Mathematical Reasoning.” Wielding algorithmic game theory as both sword and shield, they elevate arithmetic duels through the power of intellect. A struggle over the nature of computation and mathematical ethics will ultimately lead to the “Mathematics and Warfare Ethics Convention,” forging a peaceful strategy across a universe of abacus beads.
