A Thousand Patterns Woven into Brilliant Colors

Liu Shutong, a rising talent in digital media, is fascinated by New Year picture restoration and algorithmic art. After an accident pulls him into the world of the ancient New Year picture Plenty of Fish Year After Year, he discovers a secret hidden beneath its dazzling patterns: the lively carp are actually part of a sophisticated algorithm for managing fishery resources! Guided by the mysterious mentor Tantai Mingjing, he realizes that New Year pictures are not merely art, but ancient programs powered by a “folk narrative engine.” With a “narrative reconstruction algorithm” as his brush, Liu Shutong solves the mysteries of the imperial examinations through “Five Sons Passing the Exams” and builds data barriers with “Peachwood Talismans to Drive Away Evil.” He is determined to rewrite the tragic fate ordained in the picture and weave scattered folk wisdom into an eternal “Digital Archive of Traditional Folk Customs.” This is a wondrous journey through a resplendent world of New Year pictures, where folk customs become code and narrative becomes a bridge, awakening countless dormant mechanisms and bringing fresh color to the modern age.
