The Divine Lord of Shangze: Hengshan's Enduring Legacy

Introduction to Lord Shangze: Hengshan's Legacy, the Ever-Flowing Divine Waters

Liu Ruyan was once a giant dark-green python living in a frigid pool deep in the Hengshan Mountains. After three thousand years of cultivation, she took human form. On her three-thousandth birthday, she transformed into a dragon and ascended to the ranks of the immortals. The Heavenly Emperor appointed her the High God of Shangze. She now resides in the Divine Water Hall in Heaven, where she oversees some of the world's waterways, directs rain and dew, and nourishes all living things.

Her transformation from a snake demon of Hengshan into a celestial deity was as dramatic as the shifting seas and fields. Holding fast to the resilience of her serpent nature, Liu Ruyan faces many challenges in the unfamiliar Heavenly Court. When she first arrives at the Divine Water Hall, she finds that beneath its tranquil appearance, currents of intrigue run deep. Ao Guang, the hall's administrator, is evasive about many of its affairs. As Liu Ruyan investigates the vast formation that monitors the hall's waterways, she discovers that although it is ancient and powerful, years of neglect have left it badly damaged and drained of energy. Abnormal fluctuations are also coming from several key waterway nodes, as though some petty villains are secretly at work.

Liu Ruyan knows the weight of her responsibility. It concerns not only the proper functioning of the Divine Water Hall, but also the laws governing water and the balance of the natural world. With intelligence and perseverance, she studies the formation day and night, trying to unravel its mysteries. Her relationship with Ao Guang grows increasingly enigmatic, and he seems to be concealing many secrets. As she delves deeper into the hall's affairs, she gradually realizes that a vast conspiracy may be unfolding, one involving power struggles within the Heavenly Court and even threatening the safety of Heaven and Earth.

On this road into the unknown, Liu Ruyan will explore the mysteries of the laws of water from the unique perspective of a Hengshan snake demon and face forces from every side.
