The Fox’s Shadow Beneath the Clouds

Women have been disappearing with alarming frequency around Yunyan Temple. The young monk Juewu makes a shocking discovery: Abbot Hu Lin is actually a three-tailed fox demon practicing forbidden magic. He uses the souls of women to make Nine Yin Pills, hoping to survive the tribulation on the night of the full moon and become a nine-tailed fox. The mysterious fox-shaped mark on the back of Juewu’s neck reveals his deep ties to both the Mystic Sect and the fox clan. Guided by a white fox with a severed tail, aided by a beggar who is an heir to the Mystic Sect, and backed by Governor Liu, the group faces one perilous mystery after another, from jade bottles hidden in secret chambers to an altar beside a river of darkness. When the ninth victim is identified as Governor Liu’s daughter, Juewu must awaken the power of the Mystic Sect within him and use his pure-yang blood to break the fox demon’s evil formation. He must also uncover the shocking truth behind the Mystic Sect’s holy maiden, who vanished a century ago, and the fox demon’s misdeeds. This life-and-death battle between Buddhism, Taoism, and evil spirits will determine whether countless wronged souls can find salvation, and whether the town survives.
