Gazing into the Abyss: Phantom Siege

When a deadly new drug known as “Phantom” begins spreading in secret and sparks a string of vicious crimes, Gu Ye, head of the provincial narcotics squad, is ordered to investigate. But he soon discovers he has stepped into an abyss far darker than he imagined. The Dragon King syndicate is tightly organized, technologically advanced, and ruthlessly cruel. Conventional investigative methods repeatedly fail, and every comrade who goes undercover is killed in a horrific fashion.

After witnessing his comrades die, and carrying the immense pain of losing his former lover, Ye Shen, on an undercover mission, Gu Ye volunteers for the job. He tears himself apart and transforms into Gray Wolf, a brutal and dangerous outlaw, to infiltrate the den of thieves. Surrounded by danger in the heart of the drug trade, he must navigate between a suspicious crime lord and a host of deranged criminals, where every step could be his last. But just as he finally nears the center of power, he is horrified to discover that the most bewitching and mysterious figure beside the Dragon King, Red, looks exactly like Ye Shen, the woman he remembers as long dead...

Truth and lies intertwine; loyalty and betrayal clash. This is a desperate fight to find the light within a drug empire, and a searching examination of the soul, forced to face the abyss even as the abyss gazes back. Gu Ye must choose between destroying the criminal empire and saving the soul of the woman he loves. The answer may prove more cruel than annihilation.
