The Sacrifice at Gongshan Island

The Tomie Festival of Gongshan Island is a spine-chilling horror novel about a terrifying chain of events born from an ancient legend and a modern scientific experiment gone wrong.

In 1980, the unmanned Japanese warship Itsutoku docked at Gongshan Island, where the body of Gongshan Shunji was found aboard. This discovery set a horrifying series of events in motion. The warship’s investigation team suffered bizarre deaths, each corpse bearing strange signs and all connected to a mysterious girl in a red dress named Tomie. As the investigation went deeper, Tomie’s secret began to emerge: she was the original test subject in the “Eternal Life Project,” discovered in an ancient ruin and alive for thousands of years. Her cells could divide without limit, and each division produced a new Tomie, stronger than the last.

This terrifying ability unleashed Tomie and her clones. The islanders of Gongshan began dying one after another under the same bizarre circumstances as the crew of the warship. Then the horror spread to Tokyo. A “red-dressed ghost” appeared in the streets, plunging the city into panic. The government tried to respond, but was powerless. Tomie’s terrifying influence continued to grow, sweeping through Japan’s major cities, causing animals to mutate, and reducing cities to ruins.

But Tomie’s ambitions did not end there. She turned her attention to Mount Fuji, Japan’s iconic landmark. Her arrival seemed to foreshadow an unprecedented disaster at the mountain, threatening to let Tomie devour all of Japan and even the world. Throughout the story, jasmine runs as a symbolic motif, adding to the mysterious and terrifying atmosphere. This novel combines a scientific experiment spiraling out of control with supernatural forces, showing how horror spreads and intensifies on every level,
