Competing with the White Moonlight for His Affection

Also known as The Crane in My Heart, Snowfall in South City “If I could live my life over, I would rather never have met you. Then I wouldn't have to spend my whole life trying to forget you.” At twenty-five, Han Yixue works in administration at a financial firm in Shanghai. She's beautiful, with a dazzling smile. Her life is orderly and her emotions restrained, as if she has already accepted the hand fate dealt her. Li He is a sharp, ambitious twenty-three-year-old who founded an investment company. He falls for her at first sight. She's uninhibited, bright-smiled, and gets along wonderfully with everyone around her. He can't help drawing closer and testing the waters, only to learn that her heart belongs to someone else. Even so, he says, “I know you may still be thinking about him, but I still want to try.” From South City to Shanghai, from the love that dazzled her entire youth in high school to a life that seems peaceful but seethes beneath the surface, Han Yixue has never truly managed to leave the past behind. The gang leader's son, five years older than her, gave up his life in crime for love, only to be ambushed by a rival gang. His final words were, “Live well. I love you.” She spent five years battling depression, seeing doctors, taking medication, and keeping a diary. Its pages are full of memories from her youth and all the things she never got to say. She never thought anyone would be willing to break into her tightly closed-off world, much less that this person would be someone from the same circle. That early summer in South City, she was eighteen and he was twenty-three. One look sealed them into a lifelong entanglement. Now, on a winter night in Shanghai, she is twenty-five and he is twenty-three. He tells her, “If you can't come out, then I'll go in.” This is a story of memory and redemption, stubbornness and falling in love, youth and growing up. “So there really is someone who can love another person while carrying the past with them.”
