Orange Boss: Starting with a Contracted Girl, I Give Up and Coast

Lin Xuan was an ordinary office drone. After dying from overwork, he opened his eyes and discovered he had transmigrated, but not as some mighty, invincible hero. He had become a chubby, fluffy orange cat who panted after running just a few steps.

Even more absurdly, he had landed in a modern fantasy world where people revered “contract spirit beasts.” Humans could awaken the “power of contracts” and form symbiotic bonds with spirit beasts from across the world, growing stronger by borrowing their power. They could fly through the skies and burrow underground with ease. Those who failed to awaken this power could only become “martial practitioners,” laboring over martial arts with little progress while contract holders left them far behind. They were at the very bottom of society.

As a good-for-nothing orange cat who could do nothing but eat and sleep, Lin Xuan had a very clear goal: to laze around. After all, a spirit beast’s job was to eat its fill and wait for death. Find a softhearted owner to mooch food and shelter from, and his life would be complete.

Yet fate insisted on playing a joke on him. One rainy night, a little girl named Su Xiaonuan took him home. Su Xiaonuan was an average contract holder. Even the most ordinary spirit beasts looked down on her, but when she saw Lin Xuan, soaked through and trembling, she carefully held out her hand. With her faint power of contracts, she formed the most unusual symbiotic bond in the world.

“From now on, can I call you Ju Zuo? I’ll take good care of you. You… you don’t have to be strong.”

Lin Xuan: “???” Who wants to form a symbiotic bond with you?! I just want to be a lazy cat!

But once a contract was formed, the two shared life and death, and whatever happened to one affected the other.
