Defying the Pattern, Devouring the Dao

The sky over Tianwen City was once shrouded by the Zhao family's Spirit-Locking Runes.

There, Source Runes were weapons reserved for the privileged. Ordinary people were treated as Rune Slaves, their spiritual energy drained and their freedom shackled. That all changed when Lin Ye, a refugee who had clawed his way out of Gear Alley, awakened the forbidden Wild Path Rune. His rune did not grow in bone and blood, but among plants and trees. It could bring dead wood back to life, cover stubborn stones with moss, and even tear through the iron net of the Spirit-Locking Runes.

He was no born leader, yet on the run, he rallied a band of companions:

- Ironhand, a genius with Mechanical Runes carved into his prosthetic arm, able to build weapons from scrap metal more precise than anything the Zhao family could make;

- One-Eyed Dragon, a rebel from the Forbidden Valley, with Corrosion Runes burning along his bone blade and an unknown tenderness hidden beneath his rough exterior;

- A He and Xiao Lian, children left behind by war. One can command the wind, and the other is skilled at carving runes. Their innocence holds the future of Tianwen City.

When the Spirit-Locking Pillars crumbled and the Zhao family's rule collapsed, Tianwen City thought dawn had arrived. But the shadows had never truly vanished:

- Zhao Lian, a remnant of the Zhao family and an expert in poison runes and disguise. Beneath her lotus-embroidered needles lies a redemption more complicated than hatred;

- A caravan from Yunwen City arrives bearing Heart Runes that can see into people's hearts and probe spiritual veins. Their compass points to a secret buried deep beneath Tianwen City;

- And Lin Ye himself struggles with the power of the Wild Path Rune. Will he become the next Spirit-Locker?
