The Most Wronged City God in History

Hao Ren did good deeds until he earned a golden body of merit, enough to give even the King of Hell a headache. His physical body was ruined, leaving him unable to return to life. The entire underworld voted to send him to another world to become its City God! They expected him to coast along doing nothing, but then a drought struck Luozhou, leaving thousands of miles of scorched earth. An old farmer came crying to the ruined temple: “City God, save us!” Hao Ren drew in the incense smoke he hadn’t tasted in ages, grabbed his ritual sword, and charged toward the Luo River. “Dragon King, come out and explain yourself!” The Dragon King sneered. “Who do you think you are?” A flash of cold light, and the enormous dragon head crashed to the ground. Sword in hand, Hao Ren strode across the clouds. “It’s going to rain in Luozhou. I said so!”
