Siheyuan: From the Start, I Claim My Family and Target Yi Zhonghai

Qi Sihai wakes up to find that his soul has traveled from the 21st century to the impoverished 1960s. From the start, he’s faced with a disastrous situation: both parents are dead, and there isn’t a grain of rice or a single cent in the house. After sorting through his predecessor’s memories, he promptly decides to turn to his only relative, his uncle Yi Zhonghai, an eighth-grade fitter. Yi Zhonghai has no children of his own, so he treats his blood-related nephew Qi Sihai just like his own son. As soon as they reunite, Yi Zhonghai arranges a job for him. When outsiders tell Yi Zhonghai, “A nephew’s just a dog: once he’s eaten and drunk his fill, he’ll be off,” he pays them no mind. He even finds Qi Sihai a beautiful wife. Qi Sihai takes the view that an uncle is as important as heaven and that living off your elders is nothing to be ashamed of. He lives quite comfortably, keeping his wages for himself and relying on his uncle for food, clothing, and daily necessities. When outsiders criticize Qi Sihai for living off his uncle, Yi Zhonghai couldn’t care less. Qi Sihai only laughs instead of getting angry, saying, “I’m not just going to live off him. I’m going to do it for the rest of my life.”
