My Years as a Spirit Medium's Assistant

Li Tie, a temporary morgue worker, encounters his own mother transformed into a ghost immortal on the seventh night after her death.

A scorched ancestral altar document spits out a peachwood token inscribed “By Imperial Decree.” In a dream, Grandpa Hu San appoints him: “Boy, take over as head of the Enforcement Hall. Your job is to put the immortals in their place!”

The timid Tiezi is close to tears. Other spirit mediums make a fortune every day, while he works as a beat cop and pays for the incense himself. His mentor is a limping retired detective, his partner is his chain-smoking mother, the Clear Wind Sect's leader, and his enforcement tools are even more outrageous: an electronic merit ledger with KPI assessments, and a Hungry Ghost Table-Flip Technique to deal with crooked casino operators.

A fake fox immortal is pushing the boundaries on livestream? A possessed weasel immortal goes live to expose the scam! A shady spirit-medium outfit is playing dirty? The immortal serpents team up to stage a collision! The three-year campaign to root out crime in the immortal sects has just begun, and Tiezhu stares at the merit ledger, its complaint count through the roof, and wails, “Mom! Can we get a raise for underworld civil servants?”
