Plucking the Buddha

Nan Zhao, the pearl of Hong Kong City, runs into Zhou Yanshen, the Zhou family’s Buddhist scion, after her best friend’s birthday banquet in the capital. He’s been drugged. After one chaotic night, she takes the agarwood Buddhist beads he never removes from his wrist and leaves a brazen note: “You weren’t very good. I’m taking the beads as interest.” She slips back to Hong Kong, thinking it was just an exciting encounter. Little does she know the beads are Zhou Yanshen’s shackle, keeping his inner demons in check, and a silent symbol of power in the capital’s elite circles. When she makes a stunning appearance at an auction with the beads wrapped around her neck, the man in the seat of honor fixes her with a deepening gaze. “Miss Nan, have you collected enough interest? It’s time to pay back the principal.” A dazzling Hong Kong heiress VS a cool, abstinent Buddhist scion from the capital’s elite circles. A deliciously sweet romance of taking and taking back officially begins.
