Lei Chuxia Transmigrates to Save the Plague-Stricken

Lei Chuxia, a cardiothoracic surgeon at one of the modern era’s top tertiary hospitals, is renowned for her cool, decisive hand in the operating room and her dedication to saving lives. A sudden medical accident leaves her unconscious in an operating room where the smell of disinfectant still lingers. When she opens her eyes again, she has fallen into the strange and tumultuous final years of the Eastern Han dynasty.

It is the early Jian’an era. Plague is rampant, fertile fields stretching for miles have become wasteland, villages lie desolate, and the dead litter the roads. Her utterly out-of-place white coat is caked with mud, and the first-aid kit she carries is her only “magical treasure.” In a land short on medicine and doctors, where people put their faith in sorcery, she uses modern medical knowledge to fight the spreading disease: isolating patients, boiling drinking water, cleaning and stitching wounds, and even risking rudimentary IV infusions.

Amid the chaos of war, she encounters Zhao Yun, a down-and-out young general with a resolute gaze. He watches her use “dark arts” to save a soldier on the brink of death and is initially deeply suspicious. But after seeing her turn the tide time and again, he gradually comes to admire her and feel the need to protect her. As a healer’s compassion clashes fiercely with the limitations of the age, and feelings quietly blossom amid the flames of war, Lei Chuxia must not only survive the plague and the battlefield, but also find redemption and a place to belong in this unfamiliar era. Unbeknownst to her, her arrival is quietly rewriting the course of history.
