Eaten Away by the Night: Her Hatred Is the Prison That Tears My Heart Out

[Angst romance / forced love / heartbreak / strong female lead / yandere / substitute / neural link / twin fate / unhinged story!!!] In the seventh year of the curse-binding, Ji Jinye finally saw the truth: Yu Zhaowei, the “medicine” she had carved out with her own hands, was the anchor of her fated calamity. From plum-blossom brands in a frigid pool to a heart-burning funeral in an ice coffin, from control through a neural link to the annihilation of memories, Ji Jinye thought she was taming a beast. She never knew she had long since become a prisoner of love. Yu Zhaowei’s hatred was a poison-coated blade, every scar carving the words, “You don’t deserve to be loved.” But when the curse rebounded and the neural link snapped, she finally understood: she had planted love in the other’s very bones and blood long ago. The court ran red with blood as she carved the character “Wei” into her flesh to assert her authority. In the golden throne hall, she locked away the phoenix and offered her “heartlessness” as a sacrifice. Then, on the eve of her coronation, twin birthmarks appeared in a blue glow. They were fated twins, and the neural link had long since entwined their flesh and blood into an unbreakable knot. When the prison of memories shattered, the cold steamed buns they had shared as children, the promises left unspoken, and the heartbeat on the operating table all became blades pointed at them both. Yu Zhaowei mechanically traced Ji Jinye’s chest. “The heart you stole has been beating in me for ten years.” Ji Jinye gripped her by the throat, only to see zinc-gray tears welling at the corners of her eyes. “Then why, when I cut out your heart, did you use your last breath to say, ‘Don’t stop’?” This is a story about “using hatred as a rope and love as a prison.” Only when their anguished love reaches its end do they understand: the cruelest punishment was never a knife’s cut, but “I could have loved you, yet I carved you into my fate with hatred.”
