The Sickly Regent Princess's Beloved

Regent Princess × Death-Row Musician / Sweet Domestication / Freedom Bought with Atonement / Protecting His Wife at Court / Twisted Everyday Sweetness / A Touch of Angst / Tooth-Rottingly Sweet

Shen Zhaoyin waits to perform before the emperor and plead for her family, but Fu Quan sneers at her: “A lowly slave with a criminal record thinks she’s worthy of playing ‘Phoenix Seeks Its Mate’?”

Later, under the pretext of “testing the instrument,” Fu Quan orders the eunuchs to beat the zither. Shen Zhaoyin shields it and a bamboo rod splits her forehead, blood dripping onto the strings.

As Xiao Yunzhuo ascends the jade steps, Shen Zhaoyin rushes out with the zither in her arms and kneels to block the imperial carriage.

Shen Zhaoyin, kowtowing and shouting: “This zither was made by my father in his final days! I beg Your Highness to let this humble woman finish one song before the emperor!”

Xiao Yunzhuo, grinding her hand against the zither beneath her foot: “Oh? Then let’s hear first... whether the sound of your bones breaking is clear enough.”

(The blurb doesn’t do it justice. The first few chapters are a little angsty, but after that it’s incredibly sweet, tooth-rottingly sweet, trust me!!!)
