The Incredible Creator Helps Me Unlock the Secrets of the Stars

The time machine Ling Yu had spent half his life developing erupted in blinding white light the moment he turned it on for the first time. Before he could record any data, an irresistible force dragged him into a distorted tunnel through time and space. Whirling nebulae and fractured lights howled past his ears. When he opened his eyes again, he was on an ancient battlefield, with banners flapping and warhorses neighing.

This was the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms era of a parallel world, a time of warlords carving up the land and flames of battle consuming the countryside. As he looked around in bewilderment, a disembodied voice sounded in his mind: "Chosen one, you will fulfill your destiny here." A being calling itself the "Creator" took shape in light and shadow, guiding him as he made his way in this age of chaos. It taught him to understand the mysteries of warfare, helped him find a way through the whirlpool of political schemes, and even transformed him from a researcher who couldn't hurt a fly into a general capable of commanding thousands of troops.

Ling Yu marched through mountains of corpses and seas of blood, using knowledge beyond his time to reform military discipline and build waterworks. Amid the rivalry between warlords, he fought his way to power. He had thought he was a savior sent to end the chaos, but in the third year after unifying the Central Plains and ascending the throne, his most trusted chancellor and beloved joined forces to assassinate him in the dead of night. As the cold blade pierced his chest, he saw the familiar tenderness in his lover's eyes turn to poisoned ice.

At the final moment before his consciousness faded, he fell into a warm embrace. When he opened his eyes, the Creator's outline shimmered in a halo of light, and the stench of bloodshed was gone. "Why did you do this to me?" Ling Yu's voice was as hoarse as a bloodied scab. "Was the destiny you spoke of just making me a sacrifice to power?"

The Creator's voice was calm and emotionless: "Every path you have walked has a purpose"
