Understanding the Sage's Realm: Self-Reflection and Emulation

The moment you open The Realm of the Sage: Self-Reflection and Emulation, it shows that you have already encountered evil people, despicable people, petty people, mediocre people, gentlemen, and virtuous people. People in this world have never been simple black-and-white caricatures. Like pigments on a palette, they take on countless shades in different circumstances. Perhaps at some point you have witnessed the ferocity of an evil person: they stop at nothing to satisfy their selfish desires, using others' suffering as stepping stones. In their world, all that matters is "getting what I want," even if it means crushing their conscience. Perhaps you have also encountered the mean-spirited complacency of a despicable person: they muddle through, doing the bare minimum, turning a cold shoulder to others' troubles and dodging their own responsibilities. Like moss on a wall, they spread only in the shade, never striving to grow upward. Perhaps you have also come across the scheming of a petty person: smiling to your face while stabbing you in the back and tripping you up, devoting all their energy to exploiting loopholes and taking advantage of others. They never put their cleverness to proper use, thinking only about how to "take shortcuts." Perhaps you are even more familiar with the mediocrity of ordinary people: neither good nor bad, neither outstanding nor terrible. They have kind intentions, but are held back by laziness; they want to change, but are trapped by timidity. Like parts on an assembly line, they go through the motions without ever imagining they could become something different.
