Shadows of the Rainbow Sword

Shen Yanqing, a descendant of the Shen family, a renowned sword-forging clan of the former dynasty, sets out to investigate the mystery of her father Shen Jinghong's disappearance twenty years ago. Carrying a family heirloom, a piece of mutton-fat jade, she follows the clues to find the Broken Rainbow Sword her father lost all those years ago. At the Treasure Gathering Pavilion in Qingping Town, she is hunted by men in black from the Silver Wolf Cult, who seek to seize the Flowing Rainbow Sword Manual, said to be hidden inside the Broken Rainbow Sword. At the critical moment, Xie Linyuan, the second son of the Jiangnan Xie family, appears and rescues her. He seems to be the son of a family of physicians, but he is highly skilled and wields a bamboo flute as a weapon. His past is closely tied to the disappearance of Shen Yanqing's father: his own father, Xie Changfeng, once helped Shen Jinghong hide the sword manual, for which the Silver Wolf Cult's leader crippled him. As the two fight the Silver Wolf Cult together, clues gradually emerge: the character “Lin” on Xie Linyuan's bamboo flute matches the handwriting on Shen Jinghong's desk; Shen Yanqing's mother mentioned on her deathbed that Shen Jinghong once gave Xie Changfeng a sword tempered with Tianshan ice essence; there is also a fragmentary map marked “Ice Essence Hideout,” the coincidence between the Silver Wolf Cult's sacrificial day, the seventh day of the month, and the day Shen Jinghong disappeared, as well as bloodstained fabric brought by a spirit fox. Working together and following these clues, Shen Yanqing and Xie Linyuan draw ever closer to the Silver Wolf Cult's secrets and the truth behind Shen Jinghong's disappearance, uncovering a tale of martial-world feuds and family history spanning twenty years.
