Alone on a Sea of Fury

A sudden super typhoon, "Poseidon," veered completely off its predicted course and utterly destroyed a yacht carrying people out surfing at sea. More than a dozen people, including Lin Yan and Su Man, narrowly escaped by climbing aboard a lifeboat. After drifting through raging winds and waves for several days, they eventually ran aground on a densely vegetated, rugged, primeval island that had never appeared on any map, as if the world had forgotten it. The joy of surviving was quickly crushed by the cruel reality: they had nothing and were cut off from the outside world. At first, company rules, social ethics, and basic human decency still kept them in check. Wang Qiang, a former security guard, proved his strength and became leader of the scouting party. Chen Ying, a former special forces soldier, took charge of security and protection. Doctor Ye Qing became the group's emotional and physical support. Drawing on his keen powers of observation and the limited knowledge he had picked up in the mountains, Lin Yan began identifying edible wild greens and mushrooms and trying to set simple traps. Li Bowen used his knowledge and the few scattered objects they found, such as lenses and pieces of metal, to try to make fire and distill water. Lu Yao's physical strength proved crucial for hauling supplies and building shelter. Su Man used her leadership skills to keep the group working together and hold on to hope. However, food shortages, constant danger, injuries (from the initial casualties, infected insect bites, and later clashes), and the shadow of utter despair gradually wore away at their humanity, like a whetstone grinding down a blade. Wang Qiang was the first to cross the line. He secretly hoarded the food they found, drew in those who were dissatisfied (perhaps Li Bowen, who wavered at first, or another male member), and toward the few women in the group, especially the beautiful and comparatively "weak" Su Man and Ye Qing, he showed strong
