The Herbal Cuisine Bride: I Nursed My Frail Husband Back to Health, Then He Started a Rebellion

Modern nutritionist Lin Xiaoxiao transmigrates into the past as a bride brought in to bring her sick husband good fortune. Her husband, Shen Yan, fakes coughing up blood, and her professional instincts kick in: “That’s an excessive amount of blood. You should get a complete blood count.”

Her mother-in-law scolds her for bringing bad luck to her husband, so Lin turns around and simmers a pot of angelica, ginger, and lamb soup. “It warms you up and gets your blood flowing. Just the thing for chronic cold legs.”

After drinking it, her father-in-law strides around as if he were twenty again, while her mother-in-law sneaks off that very night to learn the recipe.

Shen Yan pretends to cough and tests her: “My dear, my heart is palpitating…”

She calmly hands him a cup of goji berry and red date tea. “Three copper coins a bowl. Cash or on credit?”

Later, the whole village follows her lead and plants medicinal herbs, while the crown prince, traveling incognito, downs eight bowls of Four Spirits Soup.

Shen Yan tears up his bloodstained handkerchief. “My dear, it’s time to nourish the imperial body.”

She gazes at the courtyard full of bodyguards drying goji berries and falls into thought. Has something gone a little wrong with this herb farm?
