The Boat on the River Styx

Ferrying Souls Across the River of the Dead: Lu Chen is the river’s only ferryman, responsible for carrying the dead across to the other shore. He has repeated this monotonous work day after day for so long that he has lost count of the years.

A Special Passenger: Lin Mo, a young woman dressed in modern clothes, becomes Lu Chen’s passenger. Unlike the other dazed souls, she remains fully conscious and can even call Lu Chen by name.

Fragments of Memory: Lin Mo claims to know Lu Chen and tells him the story of their past lives. Lu Chen was once the son of a wealthy merchant during the Republican era, while she was an actress in an opera troupe. They fell in love but could not be together because of their different social classes.
