Bad Luck Haunting Me? Cuddle the Top-Tier Star to Crack the Case

Su Nuan, a washed-up celebrity, wakes up inside the dating-show novel Heartbeat Signal: A Starry Date as a doomed supporting character who is about to be driven out of the entertainment industry by online abuse. Disaster strikes from the start: not only is she cursed with “unparalleled bad luck” (tripping on flat ground, equipment failures, and always drawing the worst lots are just the beginning), but a “life-extension strategy” System tells her she has only three days left to live! The only way to stay alive is to get close to the novel’s male lead, Jiang Jin, a top-tier star and singer, and absorb his life energy. On the first day of the livestream, the sweet atmosphere carefully crafted by the production team is shattered by the bizarre death of movie star Chen Mo. In the ensuing panic, Su Nuan’s bad luck flares up, and she nearly gets crushed by a falling chandelier. Instinctively, she lunges toward the nearest person, Jiang Jin, to save herself, unexpectedly receiving a System notification: “Touched the target character’s (Jiang Jin’s) sleeve. Life span +1 hour!” At the same time, from such close range, her extreme anxiety causes her to catch a glimpse of a tiny clue left behind by the killer. But the livestream cameras capture this “throwing herself at him” moment, setting off an instant uproar online: #Su Nuan Flirts at a Murder Scene# and #Washed-Up Attention Seeker Has No Shame#! To stay alive, Su Nuan has no choice but to become “Jiang Jin’s human accessory.” With millions of viewers watching, she endures abuse from the entire internet while coming up with all kinds of excuses to cling to him: nervously grabbing his sleeve at the crime scene (+30 minutes), “coincidentally” ending up on his team for a group task (staying close adds +5 minutes per hour), and clinging to him for dear life when they run into danger on a deserted island (+5 hours)… As the System coldly calculates her remaining life, Su Nuan is horrified to discover that the intensity of her bad luck is inversely proportional to her life span (luck value): when her life span is low, bad luck dogs her and danger lurks everywhere; the life span she gains by staying close to Jiang Jin automatically converts into “luck value”
